Geotextile is defined as a permeable textile product which is used together with a material related to the ground, rock, soil or other geotechnical engineering as part of the structure or system. In recent years, its use is increasing.

There are basically two types of geotextile structures. These are woven geotextiles and non-woven geotextiles. Apart from these, there are also special geotextiles such as mechanical, thermal and chemical welding.

Geotextiles have more than 100 special application areas; but generally geotextiles are used with the following six functions. These functions,

B. Filtration
C. Drainage
D. Reinforcement
E. Protection
F. Insulation (by bitumen impregnation of asphalt reinforcing layers)
